Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description
This position involves working onsite and requires the candidate to become familiar with the machines and collaborate with other engineers. The role encompasses managing projects from inception to completion, focusing on software controls engineering.
Responsibilities
+ Program PLCs for machines using templates, configure hardware, and manage programming structures.
+ Utilize Rockwell and Siemens systems, including RS logic and Siemens hardware, for PLC ladder logic and HMI programming.
+ Support running production at Tier 1 customers and troubleshoot downtime issues.
+ Commission small projects and collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers.
+ Interface with customers and work with foaming equipment/scoring cells (ABB).
Essential Skills
+ 4+ years of industrial automation experience with VFDs, servo drives, and motors.
+ Ability to program Allen-Bradley or Siemens TIA Portal and develop PLC programs from sequence of operation using existing templates.
+ Experience working with automated industrial machines such as hydraulic presses, plastic injection machines, electric drives, and motors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Ability to read schematics and understand safety PLCs, including safety curtains, relays, and E stops.
+ Experience troubleshooting electrical panels and robot programming.
+ Machine builder experience.
+ Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) is required.
Work Environment
The facility has 40 employees in total, including 12 engineers specializing in design and controls, and 2 current controls engineers. The role offers opportunities for long-term integration, development, and the potential to grow into a management role. There is an opportunity for overtime. Travel comprises 25% of the job, including trips to Canada and Mexico. The work environment is collaborative with a focus on identifying a Controls Engineering Manager.

This is a Contract position based out of Wixom, Michigan.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
