Job Description
The Principal Controls Engineer will engage with clients to develop specifications and deliver automation solutions. You will design and implement control systems for industrial processes, develop control system architecture, and select suitable components. You will also create schematic diagrams, program controllers, and develop HMI/SCADA systems.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement innovative automation solutions and control systems for industrial processes and machinery.Develop control system architecture and select appropriate components.Create detailed schematic diagrams and system documentation.Program controllers (PLC, DCS/DeltaV) using languages like Ladder Logic, Sequential Function Chart, and Structured Text.Develop HMI/SCADA systems and process visualization.Create databases for historical data archiving and display.Commission and implement control systems at client sites.Execute project plans, create work breakdown structures, and manage associated budgets.Prioritize and schedule tasks effectively.Attend and contribute to project status meetings.Oversee daily operations and activities of projects up to $1M.Essential SkillsProficiency in PLC programming, especially with Rockwell Automation.Experience with SCADA/HMI systems, including servers, VMs, networks, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk and Plant Pax, and Inductive Automation Ignition.Industry experience in pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or medical devices, or with system integrators.A Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science.More than 5 years of experience in PLCs, Rockwell Automation, SCADA, Inductive Automation Ignition, FDA validation, DCS, DeltaV, electrical schematics, and control panels.Additional Skills & QualificationsUnderstanding of DCS hardware/software platforms such as Emerson DeltaV or similar.Knowledge of S88 Batch/Recipes, OEE, MES, and ERP systems.Experience in designing electrical schematics and control panels.Proficiency with AutoCAD is a plus.Work Environment
The position offers a hybrid schedule with 2-3 days in the office and flexible client site visits as needed. You will primarily support clients in the life sciences industry. The role involves remote work with customer interactions and scheduled site visits. You will join a team of 12 Controls Engineers in a supportive and dynamic environment.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
