Job Title: Controls Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support the Material Handling Equipment engineering team. The role involves challenging current processes, equipment procedures, and electrical/controls specifications in our delivery stations to develop creative and implementable process improvement initiatives. As a Controls Engineer, you will design and develop new and existing delivery station electrical and controls layouts. You will be responsible for designing, managing, and executing the next generation of delivery station processes, equipment, and operations. This is a unique opportunity to own innovative projects that will advance the intelligence of our last mile business.

ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop industrial controls for complex material handling systems, considering human/equipment interactions within the Logistics North America network.Act as the interface between MHE vendors and internal engineering design teams during the electrical and controls design of complex material handling systems to ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70, and other applicable codes.Manage multiple high-visibility projects simultaneously while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors, and vendors.Conduct post-mortem analyses on designs after implementation in partnership with Safety, Maintenance, and Operations.Review new advanced technology introduced into MHE systems, focusing on electrical and controls interfacing requirements.Evaluate pricing of project proposals, change orders, and other quotes as they relate to electrical and controls scope.Utilize AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and/or Eplan for reviewing electrical schematics and layouts.Review and update specifications to maintain optimal technology in controls for Logistics.Understand material handling control systems including relay logic, PLCs, IPCs, and industrial networks such as Ethernet, motor control systems, and electrical distribution systems.Develop, document, and update design standards in conjunction with worldwide design teams with emphasis on electrical and controls design standards.Experience with technical solutions encompassing advanced technology applications, conveyor hardware selection, material handling integration, and vendor commissioning content and expectations.Essential SkillsPLC ProgrammingAllen-BradleyControls EngineeringBeckhoffControl System DesignAutomationAdditional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other related Engineering field.5 years of experience in Electrical/Control systems in a PLC-based controls design, preferred development and implementation in a fast-paced industrial logistics, production, or manufacturing environment.5 years of experience directly managing and responsible for multiple large projects.CodesysWork Environment

Candidates can work in either the Bellevue or Austin offices. The position involves 20-40% travel, primarily around the Pacific Northwest, with occasional travel for factory acceptance testing. The role offers a hybrid flexible arrangement, combining in-office work with remote tasks. The contractor will work onsite in the Seattle/Bellevue market, partnering with controls vendors and designing new and retrofit PLC systems. The environment includes handling all PLCs, electrical/control panels, vendor electrical drawings, HMI's, safety switches, and reviewing programs and PLC logics.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $59.00 - $65.00/hr.
