Job Description
Lead the development of control systems for automated equipment. Manage all phases of controls development for assigned projects, from functional requirements and architecture through to programming, power-up, and commissioning. Collaborate with mechanical and process engineering teams to define and document control system functional requirements.
ResponsibilitiesSpecify electrical, pneumatic, thermal, and motion control components based on system requirements.Oversee creation and revision of electrical schematics.Design and develop control systems software, including programming PLCs, HMI/SCADA platforms, Motion Controllers, and servo drives.Execute system startup, debug, tuning, and machine qualification for new or upgraded automation systems.Provide troubleshooting and support for existing production machinery and control systems.Manage technical resources and coordinate timelines for controls-related project activities.Implement control system software changes to support upgrades, process improvements, or safety initiatives.Contribute to the creation and maintenance of software templates and standards for control system functionality, structure, and documentation.Ensure systems are designed with safety, sustainability, and long-term performance in compliance with standards such as NFPA 79, UL508A, and ISO 3849-1.Essential SkillsPLC programming (Allen Bradley preferred)Controls engineeringElectrical schematicsExperience with servos, motion controllers, and motorsProficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#, and C++Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's Degree in EngineeringExperience in manufacturing or custom equipmentExperience with 3D design softwareExperience using software development tools, database systems, or scripting languagesWork Environment
The position is based on-site from Monday to Friday, with a standard work schedule of 8 AM to 5 PM, and flexibility to start earlier if needed. There is no overtime required. The role may involve occasional travel for a few weeks each year for commissioning purposes. Work involves both floor and desk activities, collaborating closely with automation designers, machine builders, product designers, and others.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
