Partner with the bestAs a Controls Engineer at BRUSH Power Gen., you will be an integral part of our controls engineering team, focused on developing cutting-edge PRISMIC excitation systems, power management system electronics, and associated technologies. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including PCB design, microcontroller selection, obsolescence management, and product lifecycle management. Your expertise will drive innovation and reliability within the power generation industry.
As an , you will be responsible for:Executing the design and development of PRISMIC excitation systems (including controller, and rectifiers) for rotating equipment’s, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency as defined within the LRP (long-range plan) and under the guidance of System Lead
Designing, upgrade and optimising power management electronics, including I/O modules, controller, watchdog, and monitoring systems, to enhance product life cycle as defined within the LRP program and under the guidance of System Lead
Developing, prototyping, and overseeing PCB (Printed Circuit Board) design, layout, and assembly for electronic components, considering factors such as signal integrity, thermal management, EMC, and reliability as part of development/program management
Evaluating and selecting microcontrollers, microprocessors, and embedded systems that satisfy LRP project/program requirements, considering factors like processing power, memory, compatibility, and compliance
Designing, configuring, and testing of communication protocols such as Modbus TCP, EtherCAT, CAN, IEC60870-5-104, IEC61850, NTP, Syslog, etc.
Identifying components or technologies approaching obsolescence and develop strategies for component replacement or redesign to ensure the longevity of our PRISMIC components

To be successful in this role you will:
Have a Bachelor’s degree in electronic or Control Engineering, Computer Science, or similar related subject. or relevant experience
Have proven experience in electronic product development within power generation or similar industry
Have expertise in PCB design and layout software (e.g., CADStar or similar) and creating and managing Gerber files
Possess knowledge of product development based on microcontroller based electronic control system / control and communication systems including Modbus, Ethernet and IEC61850.
Have a high level of competency in C, C++ for embedded Linux and Windows.
