Description Job Description Controller – Construction or Manufacturing Experience Desired - South Houston Overview A dynamic and expanding company is seeking a highly skilled Controller to lead its financial operations. This senior-level accounting leadership role will oversee all core finance functions and play a critical role in strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities 🔎 Financial Reporting & Oversight + Manage and execute month-end and year-end close processes + Prepare accurate financial statements: P& L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow + Own management reporting and variance analysis + Maintain and strengthen internal controls and compliance frameworks 👥 Leadership & Team Development + Supervise accounting staff across AP, AR, invoicing, compliance, and payroll + Set clear expectations, provide mentorship, and establish performance metrics + Partner with executive leadership to support strategic initiatives 📈 Forecasting & Strategic Support + Assist with cash flow forecasting and budget development + Provide actionable insights to guide operational decisions ⚙️ Systems & Automation + Oversee use of ERP and enhance reporting using Excel and Power BI + Drive process improvement and integration of financial tools 🧾 Compliance & Controls + Ensure tax compliance: income, sales/use, and ad valorem taxes + Manage external audits and support certified payroll, POC, Revenue Recognition, and Cost of Labor tracking + Promote accountability and precision across financial data and contracts Qualifications + Proven background in construction accounting or manufacturing + Experience in ERP systems; Oracle, Sage, Timberline, Viewpoint, Acumatica, Deltek, or other construction friendly ERP system expertise is highly valued + Proficient in cost accounting, inventory management, and progress billing + Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical mindset + Track record of leadership in a comparable Controller-level role + CPA designation preferred but not required Requirements 5+ years in Accounting leadership 10+ years of experience post graduation CPA License preferred Strong ERP skills and expertise with Power BI Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
