Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to join a well-established construction and property management company in Mineola, New York. This role requires a skilled individual to oversee financial operations, manage a small team, and ensure the accuracy of monthly closings for multiple subsidiaries. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting processes and a strong ability to lead and streamline key financial activities. Responsibilities: • Lead the monthly financial close process for multiple subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. • Supervise and provide guidance to a team of three accounting staff members. • Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions to maintain smooth operations. • Conduct detailed account analysis to identify discrepancies and ensure proper documentation. • Implement and enforce accounting control measures to safeguard company assets. • Establish and maintain adherence to accounting principles and procedures. • Manage accrual accounting processes for expenses and liabilities. • Provide accounting guidance to support decision-making and compliance. • Ensure the proper handling and documentation of financial transactions. • Collaborate with management to optimize financial workflows and reporting systems. Requirements • Proven experience in accounting operations, preferably in the construction or property management industry. • Strong knowledge of accrual accounting, including accrued expenses and liabilities. • Expertise in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. • Proficiency in accounting principles and procedures with demonstrated analytical skills. • Ability to manage and develop a team, fostering collaboration and efficiency. • Familiarity with document control practices and account analysis. • Effective communication skills to provide clear accounting guidance and updates. • Experience with Timberline or similar accounting software is highly desirable.
