Description We are looking for an experienced and strategic Financial Controller to lead the financial operations of our organization in Chesapeake, Virginia. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and the development of robust financial strategies to support our business objectives. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting and finance, coupled with leadership skills to optimize processes and drive organizational success. Responsibilities: • Provide leadership to the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy, collaboration, and accountability. • Prepare and oversee the production of timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and forecasts. • Ensure compliance with all relevant government regulations, tax requirements, and reporting standards. • Establish and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard the organization’s financial integrity. • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes to align financial planning with business goals. • Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions to address variances. • Coordinate audits and maintain effective relationships with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies. • Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial risks to ensure operational stability. • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to support executive decision-making and long-term planning. • Streamline financial processes and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and scalability across the organization. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred. • Certification such as CPA, CMA, or equivalent is required. • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. • Demonstrated expertise in preparing financial statements, adjusting journal entries, and conducting month-end close processes. • Experience with work-in-progress (WIP) accounting and financial analysis. • Strong ability to analyze and interpret financial data to support business decisions. • Knowledge of compliance standards and regulations related to financial reporting. • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
