Description
We are looking for a highly skilled Controller to lead the financial accounting and reporting for our client's organization. This will be a highly remote role with occassional travel. Preferred location is the Indianapolis market, but would also consider the greater Dallas, TX market. This role involves overseeing accounting functions, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls, ensuring the organization operates with accuracy and efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, strong technical expertise, and a proven ability to drive excellence in financial management.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring all closing processes are completed efficiently.
• Manage all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger, while maintaining effective internal controls.
• Develop and monitor annual budgets and financial forecasts, identifying variances and refining projections as needed.
• Supervise daily cash flow activities, optimize working capital, and manage banking relationships to ensure liquidity.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, coordinating with external advisors for tax planning and filings.
• Lead external audit processes and ensure adherence to accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
• Provide detailed financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making for leadership and stakeholders.
• Drive improvements in financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Monitor changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and industry regulations, ensuring the organization remains compliant.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial strategies with business goals.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required and prior Big 4 or similar public accounting is preferred.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency with financial systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, or similar platforms, and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of explaining complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
• Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and cash management processes.
