Description
We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead and oversee the accounting operations of our organization in the Des Moines metro. In this critical leadership role, you will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial processes, compliance with regulations, and strategic guidance for financial performance. This position offers a unique opportunity to impact business planning and operational success.
Responsibilities:
• Supervise and direct all accounting functions, including monthly close processes and preparation of management reports.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
• Lead the preparation and submission of external financial statements and filings for various entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and oversee internal controls to safeguard financial integrity.
• Conduct research, resolve accounting issues, and document deliverables related to financial reporting.
• Provide support for regulatory filings and stay informed on changes in regulations impacting the industry.
• Analyze financial results on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, addressing discrepancies and ensuring alignment with forecasts and plans.
• Oversee the maintenance of accounting systems and collaborate on the IT strategy for financial operations.
• Offer insights and recommendations for improving financial performance and identifying risks or opportunities during business planning.
Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Certification such as CPA or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial leadership.
• Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
• Expertise in internal and SEC financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of month-end close processes.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with regulatory changes and compliance requirements.
