Controller
Description Robert Half is looking for an experienced Controller to join or client's team. In this role, you will oversee accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and lead process improvements. Responsibilities: • Provide guidance, coaching, and performance management for accounting team members across various functions, including accounts payable and financial analysis. • Conduct employee performance reviews, identify training needs, and support skill development initiatives. • Prepare and analyze monthly gross profit reports, income statements, and sales data to ensure accurate financial reporting. • Draft and distribute financial statements and footnotes on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. • Ensure compliance with tax regulations by preparing state tax returns and generating year-end tax schedules. • Oversee reconciliation of cash and general ledger accounts, ensuring annual accuracy for all accounts. • Lead system upgrades and implementations, providing user training and troubleshooting support. • Evaluate and improve accounting processes to drive efficiency and accuracy. • Collaborate with senior leadership to present financial insights and support strategic decision-making. • Supervise the preparation and review of vendor and customer tax forms, such as 1099 documentation. For immediate consideration please contact directly Steve Fields at 919-787-8226 Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is required. • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance. • At least 5 years of public accounting experience is preferred. • 3–5 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role is highly desirable. • Proficiency in financial reporting, general ledger management, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and tax compliance. • Familiarity with the fuel, energy, or logistics industry is a plus. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead process improvements.
