Description
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Controller to manage the financial operations of a growing construction company based in Wilmington, North Carolina. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on financial management, offering the opportunity to shape the company’s profitability and growth. Responsibilities:
• Lead and supervise the accounting team to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to support organizational goals.
• Develop and enforce financial policies, procedures, and controls that align with industry standards.
• Prepare and present detailed financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Ensure payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job-costing processes are completed accurately and on time.
• Manage project costs and profitability tracking for construction projects.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and collaborate with external auditors when necessary.
• Provide strategic financial insights to senior leadership and project managers to enhance decision-making.
• Contribute to business planning and identify opportunities for expansion and efficiency improvements.
• Oversee insurance, bonding, and other construction-specific financial obligation
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
• Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting or financial leadership experience, with at least 2 years in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in construction accounting software such as Sage 300, Viewpoint, or Jonas, along with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and revenue recognition principles specific to the construction sector.
• Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to convey complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Adaptability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with general ledger systems, job costing, and fixed asset accounting.
