Job Title: Controller (Fully Remote)

Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Controller to manage financial responsibilities across various entities and asset classes. The Controller will work closely with the CFO to streamline the financial infrastructure, ensuring robust analytics and reporting are utilized to drive business decisions. This position requires excellent project management skills and strong financial acumen.

ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the Accountant to manage QuickBooks Online files for over 20 entities, accounting for investments, updates to chart of accounts, and monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and credit cards.Supervise all Accounts Payable and Receivable transactions for property maintenance, investments, loans, capital calls, taxes, insurance, etc.Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting across all entities.Work with the CFO to tailor reporting and benchmarks to better serve the needs of various departments, trustees, and family members.Partner with the CFO on long-term cost basis analysis of various assets and properties.Create and monitor annual budgets and forecasts for all operating entities and real estate properties, reporting any significant budget differences.Develop an understanding of the investment portfolio, assist with due diligence on prospective opportunities, research various investment strategies, markets, and industries, and participate in internal discussions related to portfolio construction and management.Manage subscriptions for newly agreed private equity and hedge fund investments, coordinating with CFO on cash flow requirements.Organize materials for annual/semi-annual family meetings for investment portfolio review.Work with the Venture Capital Partner to understand the venture capital portfolio and assist on projects as needed.Partner with the CFO to build finance team infrastructure, including internal controls, policies, procedures, and deadlines.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.Supervise Accountant and Finance team new-hires, ensuring clear communication and achievement of responsibilities.Collaborate with the CFO on long-term tax and estate planning projects.Supervise annual 1099 preparation and other routine tax renewals and filings, including property, excise/sales, and LLC requirements.Manage philanthropic, entrepreneurial, and operational projects as needed.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related focus of study preferred or minimum of 7 years in related field/experience.Expert Excel skills with ability to build and analyze financial models and custom reports.Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software and experience with software system implementation.Excellent knowledge of accounting and tax preparation, business management practices, and principles.Strong organizational, project management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with ability to multi-task and independently manage time.Exceptional business communication and writing skills.Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members.Superior use of discretion and sound business judgment with strong ability to uphold confidentiality.Additional Skills & QualificationsMaster’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or professional accreditation such as CPA, CMA, and/or CFA preferred but not required.Prior experience working in Investments, Portfolio/Asset Management, Wealth Management, Financial Services, or Family Office environments is a plus.Work Environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $185000.00/yr.
