More information about the company can be found at** Newcomb and Company is currently searching for a full-time, on-site Financial Controller to join the team in Raleigh, NC. **About the Role:** The Controller will be a key finance and accounting leader, responsible for oversight of the accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions while ensuring the preparation of accurate and auditable financial statements. This role demands a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential and experience in public accounting, as it involves maintaining the highest levels of financial integrity, internal control, and compliance. **Primary Duties:** + Financial Reporting: Perform month end close out procedures and prepare and oversee the production of timely, accurate, and auditable financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards. + AP and AR Oversight: Direct and manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable teams to ensure accuracy, timely processing, and effective cash flow management. + Compliance and Audit: Lead the accounting team in accumulating all required documentation for internal audit. Collaborate with internal auditors to ensure smooth audit processes and compliance with all regulatory requirements, addressing audit findings effectively. + Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard the company’s financial resources and ensure proper documentation. + Team Management: Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering professional growth while driving continuous improvement in financial processes. + ERP & Systems Optimization: Leverage ERP systems and accounting software to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and enhance reporting capabilities. + Executive Support: Provide financial reporting and strategic insights to senior leadership to aid in business decision-making. **Secondary Duties:** + Corporate Reporting: Assist CFO with various annual reporting requirements related to tax filings, fixed assets, treasury, risk management premiums, and more. + Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist CFO in developing budgets and financial forecasts, providing insights and recommendations based on analysis. + Collaborate with managers in multiple functions including HR, billing, purchasing, warehouse, sales, and customer service support to ensure best practices and continuous improvement. + Work with accounting staff to develop comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures for all aspects of accounting and finance. + Variance reporting: Provide timely analysis of trends in revenue and expenses to ensure management is equipped to respond to economic and market fluctuations. Identify areas that need attention and support. **Qualifications:** + Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. + Master’s of Accounting (MSA) preferred but not required. + Public Accounting Experience (audit sector). + 5+ Years of relevant experience in accounting and finance. + Job Cost experience is a plus, but not required. + Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and experience in preparing auditable financial statements. + Demonstrated experience managing AP and AR functions, implementing controls, and working with external auditors. + Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. + Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. + Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team. + Commitment to continuous learning and improvement. **Notice to prospective employees:** **There have been fraudulent postings and emails regarding job openings.
