Description Our premier client, who is a leading contributor of community engagement in Laguna Beach is looking for a stellar controller. Current Responsibilities in this role are: • Annual budget development and forecasting • Input and coordinate monthly financial status reports • Provide budget to actual variance explanations for board and staff • Prepare monthly or quarterly account reconciliations as needed • Assist with the long-range financial planning process and make suggestions to ensure that LAM meets its strategic financial goals • Assist in the management of the external audit • Ensure year end reports are delivered to required parties • Analyze internal controls to ensure efficiency and minimize risk • Ensure compliance with local state and federal regulations • Is knowledgeable in accepting payments, preparing deposits and delivering deposits to the bank • Monitor investment funds and transfer money as directed by ED, Finance Committee and Board for operational needs • Control access to financial banking and vendor accounts B. Additional Responsibilities once accounting is brought in-house • Full cycle accounting including billing, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable • General Ledger and accounting • Close books accurately and timely – monthly, quarterly and yearly • Facilitate hiring of external auditors at the direction of the Audit Committee • Manage the external audit GRANT and FUNDRAISING FINANCIAL MANGEMENT • Provide financial grant management by analyzing and reporting on various grants and meeting all financial grant reporting deadlines and requirements. • Assist Fund Development with financial sections of grant applications and reports • Bill all grants on schedule • Intersect with Development staff to ensure contributed revenue is tracked and accounted • Suggest adjustments to the Development budget to optimize resource allocation • Ensure proper tracking and reporting of restricted funds ensuring they are used according to donor intent and legal requirements.
