Controller
Description We are looking for a skilled Controller to join our team in Hawthorne, California. This role is ideal for a financial expert with extensive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and compliance within the credit union or banking industry. You will oversee the accounting department, ensuring accuracy, regulatory adherence, and effective leadership in guiding your team. Responsibilities: • Manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close processes. • Prepare and analyze budgets, financial reports, and forecasts to support organizational goals. • Ensure compliance with federal credit union regulations and internal controls. • Oversee auditing processes to maintain accuracy and integrity in financial records. • Utilize accounting software systems and tools, such as CRM and Crystal Reports, to streamline financial operations. • Develop and mentor team members, fostering growth and leadership. • Collaborate with other departments to align financial strategies with organizational objectives. • Monitor and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. • Provide insights and recommendations regarding financial performance and trends. • Stay updated on industry standards and best practices to maintain a competitive edge. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years managing an accounting department within a financial institution. • At least 5 years of experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and financial analysis. • Bachelor's degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting preferred. • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and internal controls. • Experience in the credit union or banking industry is highly preferred. • Proficiency in accounting software systems, including CRM and Crystal Reports. • Demonstrated leadership and team development skills. • Familiarity with federal credit union operations and processes.
