Description
We are looking for a skilled Controller to support the Director of Finance in managing and optimizing financial operations within our organization. Based in Honolulu, Hawaii, this role involves ensuring compliance with accounting standards, overseeing key financial functions, and contributing to strategic fiscal planning. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting processes, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Director of Finance to develop and implement fiscal policies, objectives, and controls in alignment with regulatory standards.
• Ensure compliance with legal and government regulations across all accounting and financial reporting activities.
• Oversee daily operations of the Business Office, including general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory management, and risk management.
• Assist in cash flow management to support operational and long-term financial needs, including bank reconciliations and account oversight.
• Prepare timely budgetary reports and financial analyses for senior leadership and department managers.
• Work closely with auditors to facilitate year-end audits, ensuring accurate schedules and reports are produced.
• Supervise Business Office staff, assigning tasks, approving schedules, and evaluating performance.
• Collaborate with the President’s Office and external partners to address liability coverage, legal matters, and contract reviews.
• Partner with the Development Office to ensure proper recording and management of gifts and grants.
• Support annual admissions, enrollment, financial aid, and scholarship processes in coordination with the Director of Finance.
Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong background in accounting and financial management.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems, including 3M, ADP Financial Services, and CRM platforms.
• Expertise in accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger functions.
• Familiarity with auditing procedures and budgetary processes.
• Experience with financial reporting tools such as Crystal Reports.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities to manage teams effectively.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
