Position Summary:
Supports the daily operation of the building management and HVAC control system(s). Applicant must have working knowledge and firm grasp of building automation logic with the ability to read/program code, identify functional problems with pressures/temperatures, valves and actuators and repair/install new equipment on an as-needed basis. This position requires a high level of technical expertise with a variety of HVAC automation systems supplied by multiple manufacturers (Siemens, Albireo as examples, energy tracking, etc.). Additionally, Management and Oversight of the Cambridge energy portal including but not limited to monthly billing of all accounts, reclassing of invoices, and maintaining the Client portal sites.
Essential Functions:
Oversees operation, repair and P.M. of building automation controls and related equipment and systems directly relating to HVAC refrigeration and other critical equipment / systems (compressors, vacuum pumps, etc.) serving research labs and Vivarium. Determines frequency of repair and/or P.M. systems.Monitors operation and maintains heating and cooling equipment, HVAC VAV controls, refrigeration, water cooling and air conditioning equipment; boilers, heating, ventilating and hot water equipment; pumps, valves, piping, and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment; reviewing logs as necessary to assure proper operation of equipment; responsible for reporting any problems/malfunctions on an as need basis.Hospitality mindset is an essential component of workplace experience for our client. Candidates must possess the ability to work in a team environment, possess excellent communication skills, be able to multitask, have attention to detail, and have the ability to problem-solve.The BAS tech. is required to review various trends and reports as a means of gaining greater experience and training. Expectation to engage the remainder of the organization (technicians, mechanics, electricians) to quickly returned failed systems to service.The BAS tech is required to maintain a logbook detailing all alarms and critical activities that occurred on his/her shift.The BAS operator will work under the direction of the Client lead BAS engineer to maintain “change control” over the BAS systemEnsures that work is performed efficiently with a minimum amount of disruption and inconvenience.Prioritizes all PM’s, corrective, and emergent work orders for the site (annual, monthly, weekly, and daily).Maintains a clean and safe working environment. Identifies and remediates all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) issues as they arise. Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.Completes all assigned JLL and Client required training and always complies with the established training standards.Ensures the availability of an adequate inventory of “critical spares” and other supplies to operate the building. Specific duties include but are not limited to coordination with JLL / Client FM on submitting purchase orders requests, developing sources for stock materials, and performing periodic checks of inventory levels and equipment conditions.Performs additional duties as requested.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Experience in working in a research & development lab setting with critical labs and vivarium space is preferred
• Team player, hard worker, good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports
• Prior knowledge of working within a GMP environment is a plus.
• Extensive knowledge of operating BMS and CMMS systems
• Skilled and physically able to operate electric hand tools, work on a ladder, carry tools, operate required equipment.
• Completion of written documentation is required.
• This position has an on-call component one week every 1-2 months.
Minimum Required Education / Experience
Minimum of a high school diploma. College/Technical Degree preferred.Multi-discipline individuals preferred.Good interpersonal and communication skills are a must5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D facility with extensive controls experience. or equivalent experience in a critical space environment preferred, but not necessary.Knowledge of Siemens, Andover, Automated Logic or similar hardware and controls required.Must be proficient in basic computer application software such as MS Office, Outlook, DataStream, etc.
