Control Rod Drive Test Engineer
1-Year Agency Contract (Extension Possible)

Compensation: $63 - $80 hourly

System One is seeking a highly motivated Control Rod Drive Test Engineer to support a high-performing advanced nuclear R&D team. In this role, you’ll serve as the primary test engineer for the development and testing of the Control Rod Drive Mechanism (CRDM) at a major sodium test facility. Your contributions will be critical in shaping the safety and performance of cutting-edge reactor technologies.
Key Responsibilities:Lead test planning, system interface development, and execution for CRDM testing
Coordinate with multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed design teams
Develop and maintain plant-level and system-level requirements and test specifications
Design instrumentation and integrate data acquisition/control hardware and software
Author and execute test plans, procedures, and post-test analysis
Support design reviews and help resolve cross-functional technical challenges
Bridge communication between test engineers and design teams
Qualifications:Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related field
5+ years of test engineering experience (preferably in complex, regulated environments)
Lab or industrial test experience, especially with alkali metals, strongly desired
Hands-on knowledge of experimental instrumentation and DAQ systems
Familiarity with design documentation, test procedures, and configuration management
Strong collaboration and communication skills across multi-disciplinary teams
Experience working under NQA-1 or DOE/Nuclear industry standards is a plus
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and lead cross-functional efforts
