Location: Crawley– Hybrid working (Minimum 3 days per week from office vs home)

Our Opportunity
We have an excellent opportunity within the Air Mobility Services (AMS) team for a Contracts Manager.
As the Contracts Manager, the primary purpose of the job is to manage the commercial and contractual aspects during bid preparation, contract negotiation and contract delivery so as to minimize risk and maximize margin and cash.
Roles & Responsibilities
Responsibility for the commercial and contractual aspects of bid preparation and contract negotiations with customers so as to minimise risk and maximise margin and cash.
Responsibility for drafting and responding to commercial terms and conditions and for drafting agreements such as Teaming Agreements, License Agreements and Confidentiality Agreements.
Responsibility for working with the delivery team to recognise contractual risk and opportunity throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibility for ensuring the correct application of applicable rules and processes throughout the bid preparation and contract negotiation process.
Responsibility for liaising with Group specialists on matters such as bonds and guarantees, export finance, export credit, exchange rate fluctuation, offset, export control, competition law etc.
Contribution to setting and maintaining company commercial policy.
Contribution to raising the level of commercial awareness throughout the company via presentations, tutorials, on the job training of less experienced colleagues.
About you:
A high level of commercial and business awareness (an understanding of the workings of the defence industry would be beneficial).
A detailed understanding of commercial terms and conditions and how to manage the associated risks (an understanding of UK MOD contracting techniques would be beneficial).
An understanding of cost and pricing techniques and contract finance issues would be beneficial (although not essential).
Excellent negotiating and communication skills.
An ability to identify pragmatic solutions and to take pragmatic decisions.
A team player.
Able to judge when it is appropriate to take a pragmatic decision and when it is necessary to seek guidance.
Willing to interact on a daily basis with colleagues in other departments.
Willing to act in an approachable, responsive, customer focused and entrepreneurial manner to support the goals of the Contract Management Department and the company as a whole.
Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Willing to travel when required, abroad if necessary.
An ideal candidate might have a degree in law, business studies, accounting or some similar commercial discipline. However, on-the-job experience and a proven track record are more important.
Security Clearance statement:
Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires Security Clearance (SC). It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment.
To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
