Primary Purpose
Contributes to the management and administration of complex contracts for the design, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning for large-scale capital projects (typically >$1B). Provides guidance on contract terms, tracks commercial issues, monitors contract obligations, and drafts formal correspondence. Partners with various functions to gather, understand, and document project status and information and develop risk mitigation strategies for the Owner. Utilizes standardized processes and tools to ensure contract compliance, and commercial know-how to guide the organization in strategic administration of the contracts while demonstrating strong customer service for the project team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Contributes to the negotiations of contract terms, pricing, payment schedules and change orders to ensure that the agreement(s) with vendors/suppliers are commercially advantageous. Prepares negotiation plan to include supporting documentation prior to negotiation. Participates in the implementation of complex contracts and gets involved in managing contract obligations. Works cross-functionally to track and expedite the completion of Owner obligations using company-developed tools and templates and coordinates with various functions to track and expedite the completion of contractor obligations. Supports the project team on prime contracts and subcontracts requirements. Assists in contract compliance to ensure that all legal and contractual matters are addressed efficiently and promptly. Works with Senior Contract administrator to provide life cycle support of the agreement to include change management and contract close-out. Drafts change orders and amendments, contract terms, pricing and payment schedules, gathers signatures, and records changes into contract management tools. Performs audits of contract documents to ensure compliance, tracks contract performance against commitments, and compliance to project policies and procedures. Supports the verification of completion certificates and documents project and contract close-out. Contributes in key meetings to accurately document discussions, events, actions, and resolutions, as well as drafts white papers and strategic recommendations, and creates tools for analyzing and tracking contractor activities, notices, and claims. Drafts formal correspondence such as notices, letters and responses to the contractor’s inquiries. Collaborates with legal, insurance, risk and tax departments and contractors to develop and administer insurance and tax requirements for specific projects, regions, or financing needs. Provides support for the development and integration of contract management tools, templates, methods and processes. Using tools and templates, prepares and disseminates information regarding contract status, compliance, modifications, etc. Supports the developing and maintaining of the contract databases, logs, dashboards, and manages the SharePoint contract document repository. Researches current regional and global events, including any events related to public policies, health and safety, seismic and weather threats to relevant region or job site, or governmental tariff risks to understand potential risks and impacts to the Owner. Tracks issues and drafts memoranda to document events and risk mitigation activities. Performs other duties as assigned.Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, or Supply Chain or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.Experience
5 years of experience functioning in a related role or capacity required. 5 years in a comparable contracts administration or contracts management role within the energy sector or on complex capital construction projects required. Experience with dispute resolution, claims management, contracting, procurement, supply chain management, and commercial legal experience required. Experience in EPC contracting and familiarity with various contract delivery methods such as LSTK, GMP, Cost-Plus, etc. required. Experience with LNG or complex high-value construction projects preferred. Experience with day-to-day management of high-volume contract-related inquiries and change management preferred. Experience with developing training materials and delivering training to internal clients preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of general corporate business practices, government and commercial contracting regulations and principles, subcontracting practices, and accounting and finance principles. Knowledge of contracting strategies. Contract negotiation skills. Listening skills and ability to document events, details and meetings. Ability to work independently with little supervision and ability to provide consultation to other members of the project team. Computer skills including working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing and database software packages, internet applications and/or company-specific computer applications.Licenses and Certifications
Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred. Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) preferred. Certified Federal Contract Manager (CFCM) preferred. Certified Commercial Contract Manager (CCCM) preferred. Certified Project Manager (CPM) preferred.Other Qualifications
Depending on assigned project or area supported, fluency in a language such as Spanish may be preferred.
