Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025. This is a Versant role.
Responsibilities:
The role of Contract Specialist is part of a team responsible for providing business and legal affairs services for scripted and unscripted programming, content acquisitions and live entertainment across Versant’s portfolio of television entertainment networks, including USA Network, Oxygen, E! and SYFY.
Job Duties:
+ Independently draft and review various legal form agreements and correspondence with regard to a range of contractual matters and clients.
+ Conduct research and prepare and draft memoranda and summaries on various contractual and legal provisions, rights and intellectual property matters.
+ Partner with business executives and colleagues on cross-functional teams and act as a resource to others in the company.
+ Identify opportunities for increased efficiencies and collaborations, focusing on developing policies, procedures and best practices across the company and implementing improvements to forms and processes.
+ 2+ years of experience as a paralegal in the entertainment industry, preferably with experience in business and/or legal affairs department at a network, major studio or production company.
+ Extensive experience in contract management, data entry and document assembly.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Outlook, Excel, and Word) and experience in document management applications.
+ An understanding of and demonstrated familiarity with the contracting practices related to the entertainment industry and intellectual property.
+ Flexibility/adaptability to manage multiple, wide-ranging matters, conflicting deadlines, and new areas of expertise as business needs change.

Desired Characteristics:
+ Strong academic credentials, including Bachelor’s Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate.
+ Database and contract management experience.
+ Outstanding analytic, communication and organizational skills, including excellent drafting and negotiation skills and attention to detail.
+ Ability to effectively and concisely communicate with constituencies both inside and outside the legal function
+ Ability to work independently based on general guidance and experience; and ability to handle multiple simultaneous assignments in a fast-paced environment.
+ Highly collaborative, team-oriented and adaptable in a rapidly changing media environment.

+ Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Subject to change based on Manager discussion or business need.

+ Salary range: $62,000 -$75,000
