Contract Attorney
Job Description The NYC Department of Probation (DOP) is a world leader in working creatively and effectively engaging with people under court-mandated community supervision. Through innovative partnerships with people and organizations throughout New York City, DOP provides opportunities for those on probation to access services and opportunities that positively impact their life trajectory. Following the best current data on “what works,” staff at DOP engage in meaningful relationships with those on probation in an effort to enhance community safety and decrease recidivism. The Department is seeking to hire an Executive Agency Counsel M-1 to serve as a Contract Attorney. The selected candidate's duties will include, but not be limited to, the following: -Engage consistently with both internal stakeholders and external parties, making sure that all contracting procedures are adhered to, which includes acquiring and documenting all essential approvals related to each contract. -Collaborate with the ACCO's Office and DOP Procurement personnel to guarantee that all publicly funded contracts comply with the appropriate procedures, including the Procurement Policy Board Rules and PASSPort, the City's new contract review system. -Assist in resolving business and legal challenges; developing recommendations through analysis and innovative thinking. -Evaluate, create, and negotiate contract provisions, encompassing but not limited to insurance, intellectual/real - property and privacy for all DOP agreements. -Ensure that contract terms align with DOP policies, procedures, and objectives. -Examine and negotiate contracts with an emphasis on minimizing risk and safeguarding confidential information. -Review, negotiate, and draft Memoranda of Understanding between DOP and various Federal, State, and Municipal entities. EXECUTIVE AGENCY COUNSEL - 95005 Qualifications Admission to the New York State Bar; and four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar, eighteen months of which must have been in the supervision of other attorneys, in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or performing highly complex and significant legal work. Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.
