Contract and Claims Professional - Mobility Rolling Stock

Position Overview

We're looking for a Contract and Claims Professional to join and support the Rolling Stock business in Sacramento, California. Ideally, you will know about government procurement and contracts, negotiate and manage a variety of contract types, be able to manage and resolve contract matters, and support procurement by advising on, negotiating, and drafting supplier contracts. You will have demonstrated leadership, technical, organizational, and communication skills. We operate in a highly regulated industry, and familiarity with federal regulations in respect of DOT, FRA, and FTA is a plus.

We are responsible for the strategic management of contracts as well as claims and disputes that may arise in connection with those contracts. As part of our team, you will provide contract and claim advice during public procurements and contract negotiations, as well as throughout project execution, including the ability to draft claims, position papers, and other legal documents. The ability to efficiently and practically explain contract topics to our business partners and drive potential issues to a consensus decision is essential.

Preferred Experience Law degree (admitted to practice in a U.S. or foreign jurisdiction) and/or commercial project management experience, and/or contract management experienceExperience preparing and defending claims against/from customers and suppliersExcellent claim drafting and defense skills are necessary to effectively perform the job requirementsValidated experience identifying risks and opportunitiesAbility to deliver high-quality contract advice and draft related correspondence within defined timeframes and simultaneously handle ongoing assignmentsDetailed ResponsibilitiesAnalyze, evaluate, and resolve diverse matters with customers, partners, and suppliersIdentify and guide the project team to successfully assert and avert claimsIdentify and assess the contractual risks, opportunities, and requirements, and communicate the sameCooperate with the project management team to define the contract/legal strategy for projectsConsult with management and draft official correspondence towards public owners and suppliers in a timely, clear, and professional mannerDefend against external claims from customers, partners, and suppliers through the presentation of relevant exonerative facts and documentationPrepare for and participate in claim negotiations as well as pre-litigation matters, together with project managementConduct legal research and writing

The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
