Contract Administrator
Job Description

This position possesses expertise in all phases of contract administration (Government/International) from receipt of the Request for Proposal through contract closeout including negotiating and administering highly technical and complex contracts. Incumbent serves as the company formal liaison with customers, Program Management, technical leaders, and various internal functional groups including Accounting, Finance, and the Law Department to identify and resolve contractual issues. Keeps appropriate levels of management informed of issues and coordinates/initiates required actions.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1. Serves as the formal liaison with external customer representatives and official custodian for contract documents transmitted and/or received between the company and the customer. Responsible for logging and tracking incoming and outgoing correspondence and communications.

 

2. Is required to present to management for review only the most unusual and contentious issues and documents.

 

3. Administer the non-routine and more complex assignments with essentially no management involvement.

 

4. Disposition the most complex problems and issues using previous job knowledge, reference and resource documents, in-house legal, (FAR/DFAR, case history, etc.) and advanced analytical tools.

 

5. Function autonomously in all aspects of Contract Administration (US Govt., International or both).

 

6. May be required to work International Contracts.

 

7. Assume role of Department Manager, when necessary.

 

8. Share the responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor.

 

9. Comply with Company safety policies and maintain a safe work environment.

 

10. Special projects, as assigned.



Work Experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

 

1. Education/experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 8 years of contracts experience.

 

2. Must possess, as a minimum, the job skills of a Senior Contract Administrator.

 

3. Familiarity with contract administration, pricing, estimating, accounting, engineering, production, and business law is required, as well as knowledge of company policies and procedures. Must have a solid foundation and working knowledge for Government and/or International contracting laws and regulations. May be required to administer commercial and/or International contracts. Occasional travel to domestic as well as to foreign countries may be required.

 

4. Must possess excellent verbal/written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills, negotiating experience, and sound analytical skills. Position requires strong individual initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision. Strong organizational skills are required as well as the ability to present information effectively to various groups or management, when required. Possess capability to take independent actions in all areas of Contract Administration.

 

5. Initiates or writes company policies/procedures related to Contract Administration and possess leadership skills.
