POSITION SUMMARY - The incumbent recognizes and identifies key processes/areas that provide a potential opportunity for BorgWarner Ithaca through improvement based on his/her review and analysis of measurables, matrices, and production data. As a result, the individual develops systems and projects for continuous improvement and positive change. The position guides, leads, and coaches' teams working on these continuous improvement projects to drive and track the efforts to successful completion.Launch related responsibilities:The Continuous Improvement Specialists reports to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering.
+ Tracks the development of all project progress and inform appropriate management of developments and possible schedule problems. This requires maintaining an issue log to assure resolutions are achieved.
+ Utilize strong organizational skills to to track and manage multiple engineering and manufacturing change requests and implementations.
+ Keeps team informed of associated changes, timing schedules and milestones, and customer requirements. This involves coordinating and reviewing the development of documentation of customer requirements from appropriate personnel.
+ The incumbent utilizes a strong engineering background to design process improvements that comprehend customer needs/requirements and reduce systemic manufacturing quality defects. This involves interfacing with customers, auditors, and all BorgWarner employees about existing and potential projects and systems.
+ Updates Change Request and Change Implementation logs to ensure they are concluded
+ Keeps teams on track regarding timing and customer requirements.
+ Performs Advanced Quality Planning with suppliers, which entails tracking progress and ensuring timelines and customer requirements are met. This may include identifying supplier obstacles needing adjustment
+ The incumbent improves process capabilities, reduces inventory, lead times, and costs of current systems, and develops a cultural change that promotes efficiency and continuous improvement.
+ The person accomplishes this through statistical analysis and review of production data, measurables, and matrices. (S)He performs root cause analysis to distinguish how process enhancements can be created and implemented.
+ Drives and tracks improvement projects to successful completion.
+ Recognizes potential opportunities for improvement through statistical analysis and review of production data, measurables, and matrices
+ Creates and develops a cultural change in the company that promotes a commitment to fundamental and controlled quality improvement
Continuous Improvement related responsibilities:Successful candidates identify and manage projects for both continuous improvement and cost reduction taking on the lead role in implementation. They drive and track continuous improvement/cost reduction projects to successful completion.Safety and Health – Responsible for completing required safety training, reporting and correcting any unsafe practices as appropriate, completing work activities in a safe manner, and complying with safety and health requirements for respective position.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)
+ A BS and/or a functional knowledge of basic engineering techniques, processes, and concepts preferred
+ Two to five years experience in a manufacturing environment
+ Work experience in quality standard and requirements
