Consumer Payments Sr Mgr

Job Summary
The Senior Leader of Consumer Payments is accountable for leading the strategic direction and managing execution across the consumer payments portfolio, including card-based payments (credit and debit), real-time payments, P2P, vendor management, and emerging technologies. This role will drive innovation, operational excellence, and profitability while ensuring compliance and delivering a best-in class client experience.

Responsibilities

Define and execute the multi-year strategy for the consumer payments business in alignment with the Consumer Bank strategic goalsResponsible for strategy and tactical execution of consumer credit and debit card growth, acquisition and ongoing portfolio optimizationManage complex vendor relationships including contract negotiations, and ongoing execution management,Assess and understand competitive landscape, industry trends and market demand as it relates to new card products and servicesLeverage industry research, competitive information and analytical insights to identify and prioritize acquisition campaigns and portfolio optimization campaigns while considering business needs, cost benefit analysis, and risk reward analysisIdentify emerging trends in payments (e.g., real-time payments, open banking, embedded finance) and translate them into actionable initiatives.Represent the bank in industry forums and regulatory discussions related to payments.Develop and align value proposition of credit cards with sales approach and tools to ensure optimal sales productivity and client experienceThought leader and change agent with regard to improving internal processes, procedures and risk controlsLead a team and cross functional support partners to deliver new payments solutions and improve existing onesManage relationships with third party payment processors, fintech partners, and other key stakeholdersChampion a customer-first approach to payments, ensuring seamless, secure, and intuitive experiences across channels.Work closely with marketing, IT, retail banking, and finance teams to support go-to-market strategies and performance tracking.Interface with Business Banking and Commercial Teams to ensure best practices in payments are being applied across the companyEnsure all payment products comply with regulatory requirements and internal risk policies.Collaborate with fraud, cybersecurity, and operations teams to maintain high standards of security and reliability.Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without noticeComplies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key.


Education Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, related field or equivalent work experience (required)Master's Degree (preferred)


Experience Qualifications

10+ years years of experience in consumer payments, digital banking, or financial technology (required)


Tactical Skills

Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem, including card networks, ACH, RTP, and mobile payments.Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.Proven track record of delivering digital payment innovations and driving adoption.

Physical Demands

Occasional travel to include overnight stay.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $123,000 to $250,000 annually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance
