Consumer Marketing Manager Japan (6-Month Contract)
As the Consumer Marketing Manager (6-month contract), you will be a central figure in developing, executing, and optimizing consumer marketing strategies for Spotify in Japan. You will drive brand and product campaigns, working cross-functionally with both internal stakeholders and external partners and agencies. This role covers the full marketing lifecycle—from ideation and briefing to execution and analysis—without direct people management responsibilities. You will ensure all marketing activity resonates locally while representing Spotify’s global brand, helping to grow our presence and capture the hearts and ears of new and existing fans.What You'll DoDevelop and optimize Japan marketing strategies, aiming to enhance brand metrics and foster sustained growth. This will involve leveraging both internal data resources and insights from external marketing intelligence partnersLead the Consumer Marketing team in collaborating with internal (Content, Media, Partnership, Growth, Music, Podcast, Global Marketing) and external partners for impactful, Japan local campaignsManage external agencies (creative, media, production, marketing intelligence) from kickoff to execution, ensuring excellence and brand alignmentBuild campaign strategies and briefs by leading development of business briefs, campaign briefs, learning agendas, and oversee end-to-end campaign deliveryCoordinate campaign retrospectives by analyzing performance, extracting insights for future initiativesManage strategic marketing priorities, budgets, and timelines for campaigns and projectsWork closely with global marketing teams to adapt and localize global strategy/creative assets for JapanEnsure brand consistency by maintaining Spotify’s brand story across all communications and campaigns using tools and guidelinesStay informed about industry trends, competitor activity, and cultural insights, sharing insights proactivelyWho You AreA lover of music and/or audio content; passionate about digital and cultural trendsA self-starter and self-motivator, able to work autonomously in an unstructured, fast-paced environmentMinimum of 7 years of experience in consumer marketing, brand management, or creative agency roles, and specific experience managing external creative, social, and media agency relationships in JapanEnd-to-end experience in the full marketing lifecycle—including devising, creating, executing, and tracking consumer paid advertising campaigns to drive key brand metricsExcellent project management, organizational, and communication skills (in both Japanese and English)Proven ability to convert high-level business and marketing strategy into effective, locally relevant marketing execution across channelsAnalytical approach, comfortable working with data and extracting actionable insightsExperienced in collaborating with and leading cross-functional, cross-regional teams, and skilled at driving consensus without direct authorityCurious, proactive problem solver who gets things done with a positive attitudeKnowledge of both traditional and digital advertising, with a strong professional network in media, marketing, and brand advertisingThorough understanding of the competitive digital landscape, as well as mobile and social platforms and their impact on popular cultureWhere You'll BeThis role is based in TokyoWe offer you the flexibility to work where you work best!
