Consulting Director - Transaction Advisory (ESG / EHS / Technical Due Diligence)

As part of our continued growth and innovation of our Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) service, ERM is seeking a motivated Consulting Director (Transaction Advisory), who is interested in participating & leading in a variety of projects covering the full spectrum of ERM’s services to be based in Singapore, where we are growing as a regional hub in APAC.

As part of Singapore office’s regional finance sector offering, this role will also offer opportunities to gain experience and lead projects around sustainable finance and carbon markets.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary focus will be on client account development, sales, and delivery of the full spectrum of ERM’s consulting services to deliver strategic value to our clients. In particular, you will play a key role in growing ERM’s M&A Solutions across its broad portfolio of service offerings:

ESG, HSE, E&S and / or Technical due diligence for Mergers & Acquisitions and project financing

Carbon and energy due diligence

Post-merger integration

Management system gap analysis and benchmarking

Sustainability assessments

Deal negotiation support

Actively develop commercial strategies to pursue and win new business opportunities that result in significant revenue growth with target clients aligned with ERM’s global strategy.

Provide business value selling at the top levels of client organizations, raising the profile of ERM’s capabilities within key client organizations, to identify and shape clients’ needs for ERM services

Develop new client relationships and expand existing relationships by delivering strategic consulting advice, excellent value, and quality service

Maintain pulse on industry business deals and prioritize sales efforts toward high-potential, top opportunities

Manage capture efforts utilizing technical understanding to develop proposals, including written content, pricing, presentations, and contracting

Lead complex ESG, HSE, E&S and / or Technical due diligence consulting engagements involving multi-site portfolios and multi-person project teams locally, nationally, and globally

Provide advice to clients on integrating ESG considerations into M&A transactions, including compliance with international standards like Equator Principles

Build, grow, and manage a high-performance team, serving as a leader and mentor to consultants.  Identify emerging talent and work with them to reach their full potential; ensure rising stars are nurtured, developed and given new areas of responsibility

Support the growth and development of ERM’s global M&A solutions and actively collaborate with colleagues across the globe. Drive innovation within the business to stay ahead of client needs and to differentiate ERM in the market

Work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment to build ERM’s global business, as well as to lead client and technical teams

Meet business financial targets, overall project budget and schedule, client satisfaction/expectations, and internal and contract requirements

Job Requirements and Skills

To apply for this role at ERM, you should provide evidence / demonstrate the following essential skills, and desirable skills / attributes where possible.

MSc in engineering, environmental or other science, or related discipline; professional registration preferred

Minimum 15+ years’ progressive experience, ideally within consultancy setting, with relevant project exposure in EHS, ESG, E&S and / or Technical Due Diligence, particularly in context of private equity and development finance institution (DFI) on both buyer and seller-side transactions

Well-versed in environmental risk, environmental compliance, health & safety compliance, technical risks and / or remediation liabilities as they relate to transaction agreements

Experience with site visits, site inspections and technical discussions, relating to points such as asset integrity, operational performance, management systems or business plans is an added advantage

In-depth understanding of the M&A industry in Singapore and the region, and the companies operating in these sectors, including existing relationships with corporate executives, attorneys, investment bankers, and/or private equity that can be leveraged into new business

Business acumen to understand business risk and challenges and recognize corporate opportunities

Demonstrable track record in delivering multimillion dollar sales results annually, including successfully winning large and strategic portfolios

Effective and empathetic leader with strong communication skills (both written and spoken) and a proven ability to coordinate and lead teams
