Casualty Risk Consulting (CRC) is a center of expertise providing technical and scientific services with a (re)insurance background in connection with complex (highly exposed) liability risks. CRC’s globally recognized services are tailored to the situation and the customer’s needs. Our clients are the underwriters (facultative, treaty, direct) and client managers from Munich Re as well as current or future cedents.
CRC is integrated into the Loss Control Engineering (LCE) department, which supports underwriting excellence and provides technical services in a wide range of areas for all Munich Re business units worldwide.
We are looking for a highly-motivated Life Science/Pharma consultant who is able to analyze and evaluate a variety of liability risks. The focus of the position is on Life Science exposures, mainly associated with pharma, medical devices and diagnostics. Other liability risks will also play an important role in the day to day work, depending on the qualifications of the applicant.
YOUR JOB
Assessing complex liability risks with a focus on Life Science and Pharma, including guiding and supporting (as a sparring partner) management of these risks, depending on the cover provided (single risks, risk categories, or portfolios/treaties)Evaluating cedents’ risk-management activities (risk selection, pricing, risk assessment) also by participating in reviewsMonitoring and screening developments in the Life Science area to detect and report on interesting trends and emerging risks (internally and externally)Constantly improving and adapting the services (or creating new services) in line with client needs or a changing environment (technical, legal)Providing internal and external training, participating in publications and workgroupsSpeaking/presenting at international seminars, meetings, and congresses, conveying Munich Re’s distinct expertiseDeveloping and maintaining information sources, and collecting relevant data for knowledge-management purposes
YOUR PROFILE
University degree in pharmacy, natural sciences with a pharmacological/toxicological orientation, or a similar qualificationWork experience in the insurance industry in the assessment and evaluation of liability risks is beneficialExcellent analytical skills, ability to familiarize and adapt to new topics quicklyAffinity for legal and regulatory topics; good judgement and common senseClear, well-structured, and easily comprehensible communication, even on complex topics to diverse audiences; good presentation skillsFluent command of spoken and written English and German; additional languages are advantageousHigh degree of service orientation; well-developed intercultural skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Willingness to travel
