Role Summary:
The Consultant I – Business Process Improvement is a strategic role responsible for leading initiatives that drive efficiency, streamline operations, and improve key performance metrics across business units. This individual will lead cross-functional teams, manage multiple projects, apply process improvement methodologies, and use data-driven insights to support business transformation. Operating with broad objectives, the Consultant ensures optimal utilization of time, talent, and budget to deliver value to the organization.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor team members to promote professional development and continuous improvement. Manage and deliver multiple concurrent projects or programs focused on business process redesign and optimization. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define requirements, map current/future state processes, and support change initiatives. Conduct process audits, identify performance gaps, and recommend actionable improvements. Design and implement performance feedback systems and establish controls to sustain improvements. Champion and apply process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent. Perform in-depth data analysis to inform business decisions and prioritize improvement projects. Benchmark industry best practices and develop competitive performance standards. Facilitate structured problem-solving sessions and lead resolution of complex issues. Conduct root cause analysis to support data-driven recommendations and business cases. Prepare and present clear, concise reports and presentations for senior leadership. Serve as a liaison across corporate functions to align strategic goals and operational plans. Continuously learn and apply new knowledge to maintain subject matter expertise.Must-Have Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Healthcare, Information Systems, Statistics, or related field. Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in areas such as process improvement, project management, business analysis, or healthcare policy. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data. Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written – suitable for executive-level presentations. Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Power BI, and SAS. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and process mapping tools like Visio. Solid understanding of statistical methods and the ability to apply them in performance measurement.Good-to-Have Skills & Certifications:
Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., MBA, MHA, MS in Analytics). Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt or Black Belt). Familiarity with project management methodologies (PMP or similar certification is a plus). Experience with Minitab, MS Project, and data visualization best practices. Exposure to healthcare industry dynamics, regulations, or payer/provider operations. Strong facilitation skills for workshops, Kaizen events, and stakeholder engagements.Ideal Candidate Profile:
