Danfoss is seeking a proactive and technically skilled Consultant – Category Cost Down to join our Drives Procurement team within the Cost Analysis Center (CAC). This role is critical in supporting Strategic Procurement through should-cost analysis, cost model validation, and technical cost breakdowns for mechanical components. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and will collaborate closely with category managers, suppliers, and engineering teams to identify cost-saving opportunities, support negotiations, and drive value engineering initiatives across global projects.
Job ResponsibilitiesCosting Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer who can speak the language of Should Costing / Cost Engineering to customer and supplier. Perform Should Cost Analysis for Pressed parts/Nonferrous Castings(HPDC)/Aluminum Extrusions/MIM/Powder metallurgy/Plastics Validate/Update Should Cost models to highest level of accuracy Good understanding of manufacturing processes, methodologies, technologies for possible optimization Articulate thought process well in individual meetings as well as larger team meetings, and in dealings with related stakeholders’ internal customers and fellow team members. Support Procurement’s negotiations using Should Cost tools as a technical expert and join the negotiations when required. Agree Should cost potentials identified & drive for implementing it Generate “Out of the Box” cost savings ideas using cost drivers identified from Should cost Provide the timely execution of costing requests Exposure to Value Engineering & Value Analysis Active participation in identifying, building, and executing cost saving projects Influence manufacturing process, Cost, Supplier Selection, in new product development Continuously enhance knowledge/capabilities Serve as the global costing expert for mechanical components.
