Construction Sewing Specialist - Full Time, Walt Disney World

Job Summary: Have you ever dreamed of manufacturing and altering entertainment, operational, and character costumes using specifications sheets and drawings for our parades, character meet and greets and shows at Walt Disney World? We are currently seeking Construction Sewing Specialists! In this role, our Cast will manufacture costumes by sewing to our efficiency and quality standards by working high-powered industrial sewing machines, press equipment, glues, and tools!
You will report to the Costuming Workroom Manager.
The starting pay rate for this role in Florida is $18.25 per hour.

As a part of the consideration process for this position, there will be an 8-hour in-person assessment. Responsibilities: Construct detailed and intricate garments from start to finishSophisticated sewing on a variety of fabricsApply size chart to alter garmentsCollaborate with Patternmaker on replenishment ordersConstruct garments and perform repairs/alterations to all types of garmentsShare sewing techniques and standard processesWork in an area where you may be exposed to performers in various stages of dress/undressRead and interpret patterns and specifications sheets with little to no directionManufacture and alter garments above minimum workroom efficiency standardsBuild, repair, or alter garments using a wide variety of hand and machine sewing techniquesAdditional Personal Protective Equipment (face shields, goggles, refillable hand sanitizers, etc.) may be requiredCast Members may be required to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies Basic Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of ageMust successfully pass a Sewing AssessmentExperience with production, millinery, patternmaking, or alternationsWilling to work with costumes and fabrics made of synthetic and natural fibers such as fur, foam, vinyl, latex, and leatherPhysical role requiring heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, kneeling, and prolonged standingRepetitive grasping, clutching, and grabbing with handsWork at various heights and varying temperatures in a high-lint areaPart-Time roles require full availability for any shift, a MINIMUM of three (3) days per week, including nights, weekends, and holidaysFull-Time roles require Full availability for any shift, seven (7) days per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) years of experience in garment construction or repairExperience using industrial sewing machines in a professional setting Additional Information: SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION
