Job Description
This opportunity is for an individual with Construction Observation or Administration experience to work as a Construction Observer on roadway-focused projects in Central Iowa. These projects will be for the IDOT, with responsibilities including inspecting roadway projects such as concrete, asphalt, bridge, storm, and sanitary sewer. Experience on Federal projects is a plus. The role involves overseeing and managing the construction administration phase, directing Construction Administration activities, and ensuring compliance with construction documents.
ResponsibilitiesOversee and manage the construction administration phase.Direct Construction Administration activities on projects.Monitor projects for construction document compliance.Work with project managers to establish and implement project procedures in the field.Perform observation and materials testing of projects with minimal supervision.Receive and distribute test reports.Prepare punch lists and close-out procedures.Perform post-construction services and investigations as needed.Essential Skills2+ years of experience in a similar role.Experience in DOT inspection and construction observation.Proficiency in transportation and roadway construction inspection.Material testing expertise.Valid driver's license.Additional Skills & QualificationsACI Field Concrete certification preferred.Work Environment
The work environment is primarily based at transportation projects or in the office located in Urbandale, working with a small team of five project managers and other administrative staff. The project is situated in Des Moines, eliminating the need for commuting if local. Prior to the project's start in the fall, training in Central Kansas will be required to meet specific company standards.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $43.00/hr.
