Job Title: Construction Materials Technician Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Construction Materials Technician to perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. This role involves communicating effectively with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractors to ensure project requirements and testing results are accurately conveyed. Additionally, you will be responsible for transporting material samples to the laboratory, maintaining equipment, and preparing comprehensive reports. Responsibilities + Perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials. + Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractors regarding project requirements and testing results. + Transport material samples with proper documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis. + Prepare and submit data and observations in written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Project Manager. + Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas. + Assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites. + Adhere to strict safety standards. Essential Skills + Experience with concrete, soil, and asphalt testing (0.5 - 2+ years). + ACI certification. + Nuclear Gauge certification. + Comfortable working outside. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High School diploma required; associate's degree in construction, engineering, or geology preferred. + Clean driving record. Work Environment The role involves 75% fieldwork and 25% office tasks, including lab testing in Lenexa. The candidate will work within a medium-sized civil engineering firm with a materials group consisting of three technicians in Emporia. Teams typically range from 1-3 people, fostering a collaborative environment. The office culture promotes a 'can do' attitude, encouraging productivity even during slower periods. The dress code includes boots, jeans, and a company shirt. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
