The Senior Construction Manager will be an integral part of the construction team, responsible for overseeing and administering construction projects in the local area. This role requires leading and coordinating day-to-day activities with the General Contractor and Vendor Partners. The role involves managing costs, processing change orders, and ensuring that construction progress aligns with safety programs and quality standards set by construction documents. The manager will report directly to the DCD PM, supporting strategic and tactical delivery of data center projects.
ResponsibilitiesAssure safety is the top priority by advocating, motivating, and coaching the team.Ensure schedule predictability and cost reliability.Deploy the company's mission and vision for the project successfully.Oversee and direct projects from conception to completion.Review projects in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.Monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.Coordinate and direct General Contractor and vendor partners.Ensure the General Contractor meets contractual performance conditions.Review work progress daily and prepare job status reports.Plan ahead to prevent and resolve potential problems.Analyze, manage, and mitigate project risks.Ensure quality construction standards and proper techniques are used.Maintain project organization and document structure.Create and manage a project timeline, addressing potential issues proactively.Track project budgets and quality governance.Motivate the team and provide necessary support for success.Attend project-related meetings and maintain a detailed project journal.Communicate and update daily with the project manager.Be present on-site five days a week.Make thoughtful recommendations and drive innovative solutions.Establish checklists to ensure thorough project completion.
Essential Skills10+ years of experience in construction management, with specific experience in data center projects.Organizational and executive functioning skills, including communication and verbal skills.Knowledge of equipment used in data centers and commissioning processes.Experience in construction safety management.Ability to lead and coordinate teams effectively.
Additional Skills & QualificationsDegree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or a related field is preferred.Background in electrical engineering is ideal, though mechanical engineering is also acceptable.Experience in commissioning and dealing with various construction disciplines such as civil, electrical, and plumbing.
Work Environment
The role is based in Mecklenburg AVC17, with a typical work schedule of Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. The position involves a mix of fieldwork (25%) and office work (75%), requiring high-level interaction with sponsors and team members. The work environment is supportive, with regular team functions, lunches, and dinners. Interaction with the cost team, AE & GC teams, and the commissioning team is expected to manage change orders and achieve project goals.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $88.00 - $98.00/hr.
