Do you have experience managing the design, budget, and construction execution of multiple construction projects? Do you love food? If so, read on! We may have the role of a lifetime for you!

The qualified candidate has at least 3 - 5 years of construction project management experience (retail and refrigeration experience preferred) and is a raving fan of the Trader Joe's concept. A Bachelor's Degree in project management, construction management, or a related field is strongly preferred. This role is based in our office in Monrovia, CA.
The Construction Manager is responsible for:Managing multiple construction projects and special projects per year to ensure on-time completion, budget cost control, accuracy, and quality of workRetaining and managing architects, industry experts, engineers, and general contractorsOverseeing architects in preparing construction documents, bringing a working knowledge and insight into refrigeration equipment, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systemsReviewing construction documents for accuracy and coordinating with project stakeholders in other departments, such as Purchasing, MIS, and Accounting Coordinating design, scope of work, and schedule with the store operations crew and obtain internal approvalsManaging the application process for all permits and governmental approvalsCoordinating construction work with property managers, including obtaining landlord approvals as required per leaseEstablishing construction timetables and communicating with appropriate partiesGenerating budgets for store remodels and expansions, and other construction projectsSoliciting and negotiating construction bids and memorializing agreements in standard contract formVisiting job sites on an as-needed basis during construction Ensuring completion of punch list itemsReviewing and authorizing contractor payment applications, and submitting for processing Tracking costs for projects and providing regular completion status and financial reports through project management platformSupporting Directors of Construction with new stores, as needed Traveling frequently to stores and construction sites The Construction Manager has the following skills:Excellent organizational and time management skillsComprehensive project and construction management skills, including extensive experience reading plans, building and analyzing budgets, creating and maintaining schedules, and negotiating with contractorsSuperior attention to detail, communication skills, and interpersonal skillsProblem-solving, proactive approach, and a sense of urgencyAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyFamiliarity with National Building and Fire and Accessibility CodesStrong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systemsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office productsAbility to learn and utilize project management software platformUnderstanding of refrigeration system design and operations preferredExperience with AutoCAD preferredWe want to hear from you!
