Come work on the Amazon Prime Air Team! Amazon Prime Air is revolutionizing delivery through autonomous drone technology, aiming to deliver packages to customers in 30 minutes or less. Our breakthrough technologies, including advanced BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) capabilities and sophisticated detect-and-avoid systems, have earned FAA approvals and are setting new standards in autonomous delivery. With operations already successful and expansion planned, we're seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee and execute complex construction projects. In this role, you'll manage all aspects of construction operations, from initial bidding through project completion. You'll interface directly with general contractors, conduct detailed bid evaluations and negotiations, develop project scopes, and perform financial analysis. Your responsibilities will include reviewing electrical and mechanical designs for constructability, managing construction documentation, ensuring quality control, and reporting key metrics to stakeholders. You'll work at the intersection of construction management, operational excellence, and strategic planning to help scale our facilities infrastructure. Key job responsibilities • Direct interface with construction general contractors during the bidding, award, execution, and project closeout/punch list phases. • Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy. • Create construction project scope and requests for proposals. • Perform financial analysis of construction. • Conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs associated with the projects. • Manage construction documents including submittal review, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing. • Ensure construction project quality control. • Record and report key construction metrics to team members and management. Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf. Basic Qualifications • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management OR 6+ years of related construction management/military experience in lieu of a degree • 6+ years of relevant experience managing general contractors and vendors, including RFP processes, bidding, change orders, quality control, and RFI/submittal tracking in construction project execution • Ability to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings for all disciplines • Ability to drive schedule adherence Preferred Qualifications • 6+ years of relevant experience constructing electrical engineering systems including large scale power distribution/generation gear and constructing mechanical engineering systems including cooling systems • Professional certification (PE, LEED, or CCM) with knowledge of building codes (BOCA, NFPA, NEC, OSHA) • Strong technical documentation and communication skills, using data to support recommendations • Proven ability to read/interpret construction specifications and create detailed design requirements across disciplines • Track record of value engineering and innovative solutions to optimize costs without compromising quality • Understand electrical engineering principles including switch gear, UPS, transformers, and circuit breakers. • Experience managing construction of electrical or power distribution systems • Clear written and verbal communication skills Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $69,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $155,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
