Job Title: Construction Engineer
Position Purpose
• Produce safe, high quality cost-effective, timely and environmentally appropriate construction engineering solutions
• Provide engineering supervision and technical assistance at manufacturing, fabrication, and installation sites
• Interface with other engineering disciplines and drafting teams
• Ensure that industry standards and Group rules with respect to allocated construction engineering scopes of work are adhered to
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Interface with other engineering disciplines during the course of engineering, fabrication and execution
• Review engineering deliverables as required • Manage standard and non-standard construction engineering performed by Engineering Consultants / Suppliers to meet project, statutory and Group rules to project schedule
• Preparation of project estimates as required to support projects • Attend meetings with Clients, Suppliers and / or Consultants to assist on technical issues relating to fabrication
• As required by projects, manage procurement of either permanent or temporary material / equipment associated with construction engineering
• Manage and monitor Implementation Contractor like for like fabrication ensuring delivery to DOSB
• Manage and monitor Implementation Contractor fabricated items ensuring delivery to DOSB
• Input to constructability reviews and input to project execution plans identifying potential fabrication issues
• Input to the procurement, subcontract, and fabrication plan • Prepare Fabrication Cards for all fabrication scopes based on discipline design deliverables
• Provide fabrication cost and schedule estimates from sub-contractors
• Review of implementation work packs – identifying fabrication scope and issues
• Follow up on quality and delivery of fabricated items/packages
• Prepares progress reports to the project management, internal and external stakeholders
• Managing the planning and design stages of construction projects
Skills and Experience
Qualifications (educational, professional)
• Degree in either Civil, Mechanical, Resource, Chemical, Electrical, Instrument or Naval Architecture,
Knowledge/Skills
• Strong onshore/offshore plant construction background
• Track record of construction projects
• Experience of operating in different countries/regions preferable
• Proven experience related to proactive control of project cost and schedule • Computer literate
• Effective English - oral and written communication Experience (consider the typical career path the incumbent would have)
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in relevant engineering discipline in offshore industry
• Construction engineering preferred but not essential Personal Attributes (consider communication and influencing skills)
• Sound planning and organizational skills
• High level of initiative and accountability
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
