D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Construction Area Manager. The right candidate will supervise a group of General Superintendents, Superintendents and/or Project Managers assigned to communities in a designated area regarding construction field-related activities. Implement all company policies and procedures throughout the entire construction process. Update reports and ensure quality control in the houses built.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plan and direct construction activities in the field either directly or through utilizing Project Managers, General Superintendents and SuperintendentsSet build times on each plan and provide schedules to meet the build timesMaintain responsibility for the profitability of the homes being built in assigned communities and manage all cost by reviewing field purchase ordersMaintain total involvement with training, communication and development of Project Managers, General Superintendents, Superintendents and field personnelOversee field operations, production times and ensure quality control so the homes built meet company standards and are ready for homeowner orientation/occupancyEnsure all homes in construction area are constructed to contract, specification and detail and all work invoiced is fully acceptable to company specifications and is 100% completeEnsure assigned communities meet all safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state regulationsVisit job sites to check quality and policy enforcementInterface, when necessary, with public agencies, municipal governing bodies, public utilities and industry associations in obtaining permits and approvalsAssist other Construction Area ManagersHandle escalated problems with subcontractorsRespond to unsatisfactory survey cards for construction and customer service to direct quality improvement efforts Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the companyAbility to travel overnight

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Seven years of related experience and/or trainingMust have a vehicle and a valid driver’s licenseHigh degree of construction knowledge and management skillsAbility to read, understand and interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedulesGeneral knowledge of municipal permitting, regulations and building codes Ability to converse with customers, all levels of management and personnelSuperb interpersonal, verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated commitment to customer satisfactionAbility to control cost overruns and manage a budgetAbility to utilize DRH Construction applications on a smart phone, tablet, or laptopProficiency with MS Office and emailAbility to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferredWork effectively in a high pressure and high production environmentEnglish/Spanish bilingual skills a plus
