Construction Accountant

Job Summary: Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with a passion for construction and development? As a Construction Accountant, you'll play a key role in ensuring financial clarity, compliance, and operational success across multiple construction sites.

What you’ll get to do:

Financial Reporting & Analysis

Prepare and distribute monthly construction cost reports and financial summaries. Partner with project managers on budget reviews, variance analysis, and forecasting. Support consolidated financial statement preparation and internal reporting.

Accounting Operations

Administer project-specific accounting systems and ensure timely vendor payments and bank reconciliations. Oversee expense coding and cost allocations in coordination with project teams.

Draws & Lender Relations

Manage and submit monthly draw packages for funding. Serve as a point of contact for lenders, responding to audit requests and compliance documentation.

Audit & Compliance

Prepare year-end working papers and support external audits. Ensure adherence to financial controls, corporate policies, and regulatory standards.

Stakeholder Communication

Liaise with project managers, vendors, and senior leadership on financial matters. Assist with billing reviews, payment tracking, and ad hoc reporting.

Who you are:

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)     CPA designation or working toward CPA (preferred)     3+ years of accounting experience, ideally within a construction or real estate development environment     Strong knowledge of construction accounting, cost tracking, and project budgeting     Proficiency in Excel and accounting platforms like Yardi, Sage 300, Viewpoint, or similar     Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills     Strong communication and a proactive, solution-focused mindset
