About the role:
In this position, you will be responsible for the high standard and timely delivery of the RELX group’s quarterly consolidated results, primarily for external reporting purposes, and to support RELX’s performance management and decision making.
Reporting to the Head of Reporting and working with their established team, you will also work closely with the RELX Group Financial Controller and have interaction with the RELX CFO. The role involves significant interaction with the group’s finance teams located in various countries and locations including several senior finance team members across our business area financial controllers and central functions such as Tax, Treasury, M&A, FP&A and Company Secretariat.

Responsibilities:
Lead, manage and develop a team of 3 finance professionals to produce:RELX group consolidated financial statements released externally at half year and year end:Quarterly SOx reportingUS and Netherlands consolidated financial statements and the RELX (UK) Ltd standalone statutory accounts.UK and US government form submissionsLead implementation of a new consolidation system, Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close (FCCS) and ensure smooth transition from the current system (Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)Provide systems development and maintenance ensuring the existing Group consolidation and analysis systems are properly maintained through the transition period to FCCSLiaise with external auditors to ensure requests are resolved in a timely manner;Drive consistent application of accounting policies across the groupAssist in drafting of quarterly Audit Committee papersInvolvement in adhoc projects supporting the continuous improvement of internal and external reporting processesQualifications and Experience:
Fully qualified accountant (CA/ACCA or equivalent) with financial accounting experience preferably gained in a Group consolidation role in a company audited by a Big Four firmExperience in working with UK or US listed complex multi-national companiesExperience in managing people and working collaboratively with multidisciplined global teamsHighly organized with the ability to multi-task and re-prioritise workload through excellent project management and communication skills (verbal & written)Have the gravitas and self-confidence to critically examine information and provide constructive challenge to stakeholders to validate various sources of informationStrong working knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and their practical applicationOracle consolidation (HFM or Oracle FCCS) and SmartView experience requiredWork in a way that works for you
