About our Team

Elsevier’s Conference Team provides a complete conference management service to support the company's publishing activities. A highly experienced and professional team manages International conferences and congresses in all areas of science, technology and health science. These events range in size from 200 delegates up to 1300 and you would be responsible for developing the conference from concept right through to delivery.

About the Role

Are you a high-energy organizer who thrives in an ever-changing international environment? This role offers the chance to develop and deliver custom conferences for Elsevier clients. The Conference Team manages international events, ranging from 200 to 1,300 delegates, across science, technology, and health. You'll oversee conferences from concept to delivery.

Responsibilities

Managing the project to ensure all parties (marketing, commercial sales, publishing, Content Co-ordinator etc) are working to agreed timelines

Monitoring supplier invoices to ensure no overspend and prepare final accounts for each conference

Coordinating a variety of projects running simultaneously and make instant decisions when necessary

Compiling schedules, setting deadlines for essential activities and agree schedule with all involved parties

Working effectively with very senior people (Editors and high profile keynote speakers)

Travelling to the conferences and be onsite throughout to ensure a smooth running of the conference

Requirements

Be an excellent team player - able to adapt communication to a variety of levels and to delegate tasks

Able to multi-task and work under pressure

Able to use discretion and initiative to achieve objectives

Be diplomatic in dealing with sometimes difficult customers

Have excellent written and spoken English.

Have knowledge regarding the scientific publication process, scientific world and its sociologies

Experience working in a conference and/or exhibition environment

Have basic IT awareness and skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word; Adobe)
