Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Computer System Engineer - Field Operations OR Principal Computer System Engineer - Field Operations to join our team at Beale AFB, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization.

This position will be responsible for the integration and testing of software/hardware systems in complex IT systems.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Perform datacenter hardware/software installation, configuration, and testing for both new systems and upgrades to existing complex IT systemsPhysically construct rack-based datacenter systems with a focus on safety, quality, and ease of repairInstall system interconnect cabling for communications, audio, networking, and serial interfacesInterpret, markup/redline, and audit released engineering drawingsDeploy and configure operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Solaris, and vMware ESXiConfigure and markup system build guides/procedures for IT hardware such as switches, workstations, virtual machines, and Keyboard Video Mouse Audio (KVMA)/PCOIP devicesMaintain system hardware/software configuration and troubleshoot issues as neededExecute both temporary and permanent changes to the system via established processesProvide expert software, hardware, and system support to on-site end-usersSupport the engineering team(s) with software defect resolution and enhancement effortsPerform integrated logistics support (ILS) and inventory tracking for inbound and outbound hardwareParticipate in offsite upgrades and system integration activities

The selected candidate will be working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment working closely with engineers, technicians, and other on-site personnel to support a program where application of extensive technical expertise will be required to support a complex IT system.

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility.  There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. This position requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

This position can be filled at either the Computer System Engineer - Field Operations OR Principal Computer System Engineer - Field Operations level, depending upon the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications for Computer System Engineer – Field Operations:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience.Demonstrated experience with Windows and Unix operating systemsDemonstrated experience with VmWareAbility to obtain and maintain DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) compliant certification. Examples include: CCNA Security, Security+CE, CCNP, and CISSP. This certificate must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.Active DoD Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance. This SAP must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. (Of note: Additional SAP clearance may be required once in role.)

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 1 year of related engineering experience.Demonstrated experience with Windows and Unix operating systemsDemonstrated experience with VmWareAbility to obtain and maintain DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) compliant certification. Examples include: CCNA Security, Security+CE, CCNP, and CISSP. This certificate must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.Active DoD Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance. Salary Range: $85,400.00 - $128,000.00Salary Range 2: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
