Compressor Aerodynamics CFD Engineer
Job Description

As our Compressor Aerodynamics CFD Engineer, you’ll play a key role in advancing the aero-thermal design and validation of centrifugal compressors that power high-efficiency cooling solutions.

Your impact? You’ll turn rigorous modeling and lab test results into clear performance maps and design decisions—improving reliability, efficiency, and time-to-market for our next-generation products used by customers worldwide.

You’ll collaborate with R&D, Test Lab, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing, and take ownership of compressor aero/thermal analyses, test planning, data reduction, and performance rating tools—helping us move toward a more efficient and innovative future.

This is an onsite position at our Turbocor Global Headquarters in Tallahassee, FL.

Job Responsibilities

Lead aero/thermal modeling of centrifugal compressors (streamline methods and CFD) and contribute to CAD/CAE design iterations to meet performance and reliability targets.

Define and execute compressor and chiller test plans in DTC laboratories; oversee setup, test execution, safety/compliance, and continuous method improvements.

Reduce and analyze test data; generate clear reports, performance ranges/maps, and rating program inputs (CPR) to guide product decisions.

Perform thermal design and analysis for motors, power electronics, and compressor sub-systems; recommend design and lab improvements based on findings.

Partner cross-functionally (engineering, production, marketing) to translate customer and system requirements into validated compressor solutions.

Background & Skills

MS or PhD in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with depth in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermal design/analysis.

3+ years of applied/industry or advanced R&D experience in aero/thermal analysis and thermal design beyond coursework.

Hands-on compressor and chiller testing experience (planning, execution, data acquisition/reduction, and reporting in a lab environment).

Proficiency with CFD (e.g., CFX, NUMECA) and analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS for stress/thermal) plus familiarity with CAD/CAE workflows.

Proven collaboration, clear technical communication, and ownership to meet milestones and deliver reliable, data-driven outcomes.
