Component Development Testing Engineer
Job Requirements

To support the team in various test facilities related design and the system level activities including the high-speed rotating rigs design and testing, decarb programs related facilities design and testing activities including the hydrogen fuel related and exhaust gas recirculation related, high temperature and high pressure heat exchanger and valves testing facility and testing aspects, and combustion related design and testing activities. 

Guide the team in customer sponsored  test  programs  in  test  rig design, manufacturing, build, teardown & test  operations. Act as a mentor for the testing/ design team for smooth communication/ execution.

Understand the test vehicle requirements/ CTQs, existing lab/ facility capabilities & collaborate  with the design engineers/ test engineers to firm up the design and the operational philosophy. 

To participate in the design reviews and help the team to effectively close the design reviews targeting first time yield. To help the team to address the action items coming from the reviews on time.

Work closely with TLs, TE/FE, technicians, & external man power and identify potential areas of improvement in design, commissioning and testing phases and enable the same for its implementation. 

Provide  technical  oversight  &  critical  review  of  test facilities  H/W,  instrumentation,  test  rig  capability  vs.  TR requirements.

Review  technical  presentations  at  design  reviews  &  program  reviews  (safety  reviews,  red  flag  reviews,  and  similar).  

To guide team while to perform RCA and identify possible reasons for discrepancies/ abnormalities. To provide quick fixes to enable the tests.

To help team in developing the design methodologies for numerical analysis, especially related to thermal/ aero. To review the numerical methods/ results produced by the team.

Mentor/develop TE/FE  in  designing/ testing aspects. 

To look for new areas of expansion, work closely with PL to enable testings in new areas of expansion.

To identify potential areas for innovation and mentor team to enable the same.



Work Experience

BS/MS degree  in  Mechanical/ Aerospace  Engineering  or  related  technical  discipline from reputed university.

Minimum  of  30+  years  experience  in aerodynamic and thermal design of turbine (steam/ gas/ wind).

Working experience with design and analysis tools including ANSYS Fluent/CFX.

Should have strong mentoring skills to train the Engineers.

Cognizant with ASME and other codes and standards, hands on experience with NPI or equivalent processes. 

Working experience cross functional team interactions, businesses and external customers.

Experience with Lean and Six  Sigma  tools  and  processes. 

Should have innovative mindset
