Compliance Specialist
Job Title: Compliance SpecialistPay: 65k+/year Shift: 1st

Job Description

The Compliance Specialist assists in developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs to reduce the frequency of accidents and injuries, thereby minimizing overall workers’ compensation costs. The role involves working with Tier 2 chemistry and chemical concerns.

ResponsibilitiesPlan, implement, communicate, and monitor safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.Audit various elements of safety programs for effectiveness, schedule and perform safety inspections, identify issues, and develop corrective action plans alongside the Director of EHS.Supervise, control, and monitor fire prevention and firefighting activities.Investigate all accidents and injuries, recommend and/or coordinate corrective actions through root cause analysis completion.Lead safety training programs designed to instruct employees in general safe work practices and specific instructions related to job-specific hazards; provide training for new employees.Maintain thorough knowledge of federal and state OSHA regulations; keep up-to-date with safety codes and regulations; distribute and/or post new or revised safety standards affecting the company.Review and respond to OSHA inquiries in partnership with the Director of EHS.Identify potential safety hazards at all facilities, report hazards and recommendations for elimination or reduction to management.Assist the Director of EHS in coordinating with other departments on the design and construction of new equipment, facilities, and work methods to ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations.Encourage employees and supervisors to report all unsafe conditions immediately and schedule or coordinate repairs promptly.Train employees and supervisors to report any injury occurring on the job, even minor ones, immediately.Maintain records for statistical measurement and conformance to standard practices of the safety industry.Prepare and maintain required safety reports.Perform other related duties as assigned by management.Knowledge of EHS/LMS system operation.Essential Skills3-5 years of related experience; Bachelor's degree preferred in Chemistry or Regulatory.Experience with storm water and waste water management.Knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance standards.Commitment to excellence and high standards.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to work with all levels of management.Strong interpersonal skills.Ability to effectively deal with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.Proficiency in Word, Excel, Visio, Publisher.Ability to manage priorities and workflow.Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.Ability to understand all safety requirements and cautions.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.Demonstrated competence in reacting to and handling emergencies.Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.Additional Skills & QualificationsBilingual skills are a plus.GSP, CSP certifications are a plus.First Aid/CPR/AED Trainer certification is a plus.OSHA 10/30 Instructor certification is a plus.Work Environment

The position requires on-site work in Mentor with 10% domestic travel. The work environment involves engaging with various technologies and systems related to safety management.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $98000.00/yr.
