Compliance Division - Salt Lake City - Associate, Business Unit Compliance- 8380937

Job Duties: Associate, Business Unit Compliance with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Review transaction surveillance alerts generated by Financial Crime Compliance (“FCC”) models, which operate to fulfil the firm’s regulatory responsibilities to detect potential suspicious activity under the Bank Secrecy Act (“BSA”). Conduct due diligence using internal systems and the public domain to determine relationships and business purpose of client transactions flagged in surveillance alerts. Conduct in-depth transactional investigations to identify anti-money laundering (“AML”) or fraud red flags probative of potential illicit activity. Identify patterns and trends consistent with money laundering, terrorist financing, and other types of suspicious activity in account activity. Interact with business personnel to request further information and/or documentation in order to properly analyze transactions. When problematic transactions are identified, work closely with compliance, operations, and business personnel to escalate, discontinue, and/or mitigate such activity. Maintain an understanding of the firm's expected business activities in order to identify abnormal activity and escalate potential suspicious activity. When suspicious activity is identified, present findings to management and complete steps to report such activity to regulatory bodies, including but not limited to, the filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (“SAR”). Review transactional activity escalated from various channels including fraud referrals, information sharing process such as 314(b), regulatory inquiries and law enforcement requests. Draft investigative case reports detailing due diligence conducted, red flags identified and resolutions steps.

Job Requirements: Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field or Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. One (1) year of experience with a Master’s degree in the job offered or in a related role or three (3) years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in the job offered or in a role. Prior experience must include one (1) year of experience with a Master’s degree or three (3) years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree with the following: soliciting relevant information from business-side personnel to identify concerning activity and discontinuing future transactions, if necessary; conducting thorough research in the public domain and analyzing information to create a clear fact pattern and risk assessment; identifying characteristics of anti-money laundering or fraud red flags probative of potential illicit activity in transactional reviews, in accordance with the Bank Secrecy Act ("BSA"); drafting complex investigative case reports detailing due diligence conducted, red flags identified and resolutions steps; and gathering complex set of transaction facts and quickly distilling them down to the key relevant data points necessary to determine risk profile.
