Job Description:

Department Overview

The Global Compliance Department is responsible for overseeing Regulatory Compliance across TD Bank Group in accordance with the Global Compliance Operating Framework.  Compliance is responsible for developing and maintaining the processes by which Businesses are made aware of the legislation and regulation, under which they are governed, as well as compliance trends, emerging risk areas and regulatory changes.

Wealth Compliance works pro-actively with the Canadian Wealth businesses and various other departments within TD that provide support to these businesses.  We ensure regulatory compliance; protect the interests of the firm, its employees and clients while supporting the sales and productivity objectives of our business partners.

Primary Purpose Of The Role

Provide support, guidance, reporting and analysis to TD Wealth businesses with a focus on employee personal trading, surveillance, and compliance advisory support to TD Asset Management Inc. (TDAM)

Key Accountabilities

Provide compliance review, evaluation, reporting and/or analytical support in a timely manner related to employee personal trading, electronic communications, and gifts and entertainment (G&E) requests and other compliance matters as assigned.

Responsible for monitoring/surveillance, and where applicable escalation, of employee personal trading with respect to the Grey and Restricted List, Restricted Securities and Wall-crossings.

Acts as a key resource in providing Compliance advice and support to employees by addressing highly sensitive and confidential requests from employees related to personal trading

Assists with designing, implementing and assessing the controls for the employee personal trading program.

Be a subject matter expert on assigned projects and initiatives with a focus on regulatory requirements, policies and procedures, effective controls, supervision and testing expectations

Support Wealth Compliance team members and management on a variety of projects, initiatives and other ad-hoc requests as assigned by AVP, Compliance.

Maintain strong and collaborative relationships with other Compliance teams, corporate and control functions.

Job Requirements

University degree, with a major/specialty in investment industry accreditation is an asset

Minimum 3 years of relevant business, Compliance, Risk or investment management experience preferred

Proficient technical knowledge of financial instruments across all asset classes (i.e. equities, fixed income, derivatives, etc.)

Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work in a dynamic environment

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, demonstrated strong writing skills, including drafting process documents.

Ability to multi-task, work independently, think critically, and make decisions         

Ability to work under pressure and to manage tight deadlines and multiple competing priorities

Ability to deal with staff and management at all levels in a confidential manner

Strong personal integrity in dealing with confidential and sensitive information

Additional Information

Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities combined with an attention to detail and strong organizational skills to thrive in a dynamic environment

Ability to articulate critical issues for escalation and decisions while maintaining ownership of deliverables

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking/presentation skills and well developed listening and negotiation skills

Contributes to various Compliance advisory activities (e.g. report production, process mapping, tracking, research, analysis and procedural support) as assigned, with a focus on employee personal trading, and other Compliance matters related to the Wealth businesses.
