**This position is an 18-month temporary contract opportunity for parental leave coverage.**
**How will you make an impact in this role?**
Reporting to the Manager Compliance Advisory & Challenge, the incumbent will be responsible for providing management of compliance risk and effective challenge across all business units in accordance with the local market regulatory requirements in addition to internal American Express Compliance programs and policies.
The role will support four primary areas of responsibility:
+ Compliance challenge across all lines of business to ensure compliance by design, and ongoing oversight of business initiatives, product launches, and capability developments;
+ Supporting Compliance, Conduct and Integrity & Security risk assessments;
+ Assessing compliance risk and challenging first line RCSA processes/controls to strengthen the risk and control environment.
+ Compliance advice and challenge supporting the migration of the Bank’s legal Inventory to a new Enterprise solution.
This position must maintain a clear understanding of the regulatory requirements, internal expectations and processes across all lines of business to successfully control and mitigate risk. The position has responsibility for contributing to the development and maintenance of a strong Compliance regime and culture that provides effective management of compliance risk in accordance with the local market legal and regulatory requirements and internal American Express policy.
The role requires strong partnerships with business teams as well as risk functions to influence a strong culture of compliance.
Responsibilities Include:
+ Provide effective challenge and oversight relating to law and regulation, in addition to guidance to the business regarding the establishment and maintenance of effective controls to mitigate regulatory risk.
+ Conducting Compliance, Conduct and Integrity & Security risk assessments in support of new product and initiative launches and vendor outsourcing.
+ Provide Compliance challenge across various Bank departments’ RCSA control frameworks and ongoing testing.
+ Identify and provide oversight relating to regulatory risks and the potential for customer harm that the Bank may encounter.
+ Represent Compliance in projects and initiatives to ensure applicable legal and regulatory requirements are met and incorporated into business processes with the appropriate level of controls.
+ Support Senior Manager with Compliance Regulatory Compliance Forum reporting process to communicate the ongoing management of compliance risks to all levels of the organization including senior management.
+ As required, review Bank materials for compliance with applicable regulations and requirements.
+ Support the continued improvement of the existing Compliance Program including the implementation of new regulatory requirements, controls, policies and procedures.
+ Develop and maintain procedures, guidance and training related to the regulatory environment that will increase efficiencies reduce errors and mitigate risk.
+ Maintain working knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements. As needed, utilize General Counsel’s Office, Audit, Risk, or Line of Business and Enterprise Compliance experts.
+ Act as the compliance point of contact for special projects.
+ Additional duties and responsibilities as required.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ University degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and business experience.
+ Minimum 3 years’ experience related to compliance/audit/legal/risk management experience in the financial services industry, preferably in the compliance function.
+ Must have experience in at least two of the following areas: regulatory compliance, controls, risk management, audit, credit card operations.
+ RCSA program experience considered an asset.
+ Comprehensive understanding of financial services regulatory environment and applicable laws and regulations.
+ Strong working knowledge of banking industry products and services, credit cards in particular.
+ Self-starter, strategic thinker and must have the ability to manage complex projects, influence without authority and effectively collaborate across multiple support and business groups and across markets.
+ Advanced analytical skills, well organized, able to understand and communicate complex regulatory requirements and develop control recommendations.
+ Ability to maintain independence and recommend courses of action with impartiality.
+ Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills to successfully interact, persuade and influence a broad spectrum of constituents at all organizational levels, including senior leadership teams.
+ Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently, work well under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt easily to frequent change.
